The Community Education Program at Sexual Assault Centre Kingston (SAC Kingston) raises awareness, informs the community, and takes action on the issues of sexualized violence through collaboration with individuals and organizations, public speaking, creation and distribution of educational materials, and media relations.
Community Education Projects
We work on various projects that address sexualized violence and the broader issues of women’s equality, including, but not limited to, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, International Women’s Day, International Women’s Week, Sexual Violence Awareness Month (May), Take Back the Night, and the Sisters In Spirit Vigil.

Public Speaking Engagements
SAC Kingston offers presentations, workshops, and other public speaking engagements on various topics concerning sexualized violence and the broader issues of women’s equality to schools, professional and community organizations, and special interest groups.
Topics include, but are not limited, to the following: sexual assault, sexual harassment, child sexual abuse, healthy relationships, human rights, anti-oppression/anti-discrimination, eating disorders relating to trauma, HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections, the law and consent, the herstory of feminism and rape crisis centres in Canada, how to be an advocate, date rape drugs, ritualized abuse, sexual orientation and identity, elder abuse, sexual abuse and disabilities, pornography, self harm, sexual abuse and ethnicity, and media awareness.

Our comprehensive library is open to the public with various print and video resources on diverse topics surrounding sexualized violence and the broader issues of women’s equality.
