| A woman-centred philosophy that recognizes the social, legal, economic, political, cultural, racial, and linguistic context of each woman’s life |
Violence Means:
Any behaviour or action designed to control, intimidate, threaten or injure another person, including but not limited to emotional, psychological, financial, sexual, and physical abuse. |
Sexual Violence is:
Any sexual act that takes place without the consent of all parties or more specifically, any sexual behaviour, comment, or action designed to control, intimidate, threaten, harass, exploit, or injure another person, including but not limited to child sexual abuse, sexual assault, and sexual harassment
Patriarchal Is:
A system of society, government etc, which is ruled primarily by men, giving males advantages and privilege and power
Oppression Is:
A system of historic and systemic discrimination that is maintained/continued through strategies such as misinformation, fear, economic control, misuses of power and privilege. Forms of oppression include sexism, heterosexism, racism, sizeism, ableism or classism. These are built upon and reinforce myths and assumptions and stereotypes. It ensures that access to, and use of various forms of power, control and authority will remain in the hands of privileged groups
Pro-Choice Is:
Recognizing every women’s right to chose abortion and birth control without interference
Pornography Is:
Pornography originates from a patriarchal, sexist and capitalistic societal fabric. Globally, it is an abusive practice that uses verbal and/or visual representations of sexual behaviour, often violent, that degrades and humiliates the women and children involved
Erotica Is:
Unlike pornography, is the showing, in movies, books, videos etc. the mutually pleasurable, mutually consensual, sexual expression between two adults who have enough power to be able to consent |
